What does the Programme Offer?
The Fellows will have an unparalleled opportunity to spend twenty-four months gaining both academic, legal and field experience working in the areas of migration, women’s rights, protection of displaced communities, and being part of a movement to build an inclusive and responsive legal protection landscape through a rule of law-focused approach.
The position will be a unique opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to raise awareness around issues related to forced migration and displacement, gain an in-depth understanding of programmes, engage with domestic and international experts, and, most importantly, interact with the migrant and displaced communities. The Fellows may be placed in any of MAP’s three primary programmes – support for survivors of sexual & gender-based violence, legal empowerment of migrant workers, and direct assistance to displaced communities.
The Fellows will have the rare chance to use core human rights and international law principles to directly impact the lives of their clients. Over the course of the Programme, the Fellows will be trained to effectively leverage the law as a tool to protect the rights of displaced populations, contribute to ongoing advocacy, litigation, and policymaking efforts and undertake path breaking research in the field. Fellows will also have the opportunity to engage with MAP’s key partners and collaborators, which includes UN agencies, civil society organisations, and state institutions.
The CFC Fellowship can be used as a springboard towards a wide range of academic and professional opportunities in the future. MAP’s alumni have gone on to pursue careers in the
development sector including in the UN system and graduate degrees, other prestigious academic fellowships and PhDs.
Who Should Apply?
MAP is looking for applicants who are graduates of law or other related fields, with 0-2 years of experience. Candidates must have a deep commitment towards human rights and access to justice issues.
Some key responsibilities, depending on the programme the Fellows are assigned to, may include:
Provide legal aid and representation to migrant and displaced populations in India;
Engage with the target communities through trainings, meetings and other events to spread awareness on their legal rights and their access to justice;
Assist in operationalising community legal desks in identified settlements to conduct in-takes and provide individualized assistance to vulnerable clients;
Conduct trauma-informed interviews with potential clients to identify protection needs, prepare legal/supporting documentation, and perform such other tasks related to casework;
Engage in programme-based research, policy and advocacy;
Assist in strengthening MAP’s community-based networks comprising of Paralegal Volunteers, NGOs, community leaders etc., and coordinate their grassroots interventions;
Assist in maintaining office databases and drafting office correspondence; and
Such other activities, which are required to meet MAP’s goals.
The Fellow will be carrying out the aforementioned activities under the supervision of the Project Coordinator. The Fellow will be required to travel for work, as needed.

The Position
At MAP, we strongly believe that an organisation is made by its people. This makes the position of the Manager a critical one.
MAP requires the Manager to be integrally involved in organisational development by leading a people management strategy covering talent acquisition, induction, learning and development, leadership training, performance assessments, compensation, health, and welfare. In addition, the position calls for the developing of effective and employee-friendly HR management policies, procedures and systems that are in line with local and international good practices. The Manager would also be responsible for creating an environment that fosters individual growth, in line with organisational requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Implement MAP’s HR policies and systems and undertake periodic review of the same to ensure alignment with updates, ever-changing international understanding of good practices, as well as organisational values and ethos;
Focus on continuous design and improvement of key HR processes to make them standard, efficient and scalable;
Implement and refine end-to-end recruitment and induction processes so as to ensure a good fit of candidates to programmes and roles therein; issue employee contracts, offer letters, and supporting documents and supervise management of employee files;
Partake in the goal cascade process at the beginning of the year and ensure the implementation of the organisation’s performance review system and feedback process with a view to increase staff motivation and continuous development;
Identify and facilitate Learning and Development (L&D) opportunities for both programme and support staff;
Manage the year-end cycle including increments and promotions;
Lead internal employee engagement in the team to aid a positive work environment, which could include organising retreats, work events, celebrations, formal and informal employee communication forums (townhalls, skip meetings etc.);
Organise and provide logistical and other support to office and programme events;
Assist in procurement of goods and services as required, ensuring compliance with procurement policies;
Prepare for and support audits; ensure that any corrective actions relating to HR management are closed out in a timely manner;
Conduct staff trainings on various HR systems and policies (e.g., POSH training);
Build in digital capability within HR systems where possible;
Manage the exit process and identify issues that might be emerging from exit interviews;
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment and labour laws and ensure MAP is compliant with the same;
Provide comprehensive HR advice and support to the management team (especially in case of grievance or disciplinary situations); and
Such other related tasks that may be assigned from time-to-time.
Team Structure
The Manager will lead the team of administrative staff and will be reporting to the Operations Director. S/he will also be working closely with the senior leadership team at MAP, including the Executive Director and the Chief Operating Officer.
Qualification & Experience
MBA or PGDM with specialization in HR or PG;
5-6 years of experience in the HR domain working on all aspects of people management, including, recruitment, staff management, performance evaluation, staff engagement and motivation;
Knowledge of relevant employment laws and practices;
High-quality written and verbal communication skills (Hindi and English);
Ability to develop strong interpersonal skills, and engage with all levels in the organisation;
Strong work ethic and attention to detail in all aspects of work;
Creative thinker and problem solver;
Consummate professional in discretion, discernment, and confidentiality; and
Familiarity with HR systems in the development sector will be an advantage.
